My TBR List for Fall!
Spooky season and cozy vibes are just around the corner...
It’s about to be fall y’all!
Hey, bookworms! Long time no see. It’s been a few months since I last wrote on my Substack. Summer has been hectic but through it all, I have still been reading. As the weather cools down (jk, I live in Los Angeles), I opted to write a short list of what I’m hoping to read in the next few months.
I chose these books because they give me autumnal vibes, which is something I very much yearn for. I also want to take a moment to thank my friend Brigitte and my friend Sabrina from the CozyCatCollective for providing me with some of these suggestions.
As I have not read these yet, I will only be writing a small blurb about each book.
P.S. you can likely find these books at your local library or you can click on the book title to purchase them off Thriftbooks.
The Secret History by Donna Tartt
Why I chose this:
The Secret History centers on a group of students studying Greek at a New England college. It has murder, mystery, and depictions of Vermont in the fall. This was recommended to me by my friend Brigitte.
We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson
Why I chose this:
In the 7th grade, we read Shirley Jackson’s The Lottery. 12-year-old me was taken aback by the violence and darkness of the story. Sabrina from the CozyCatCollective recommended this classic gothic novel about a bizarre family that I’m sure I will love.
A Just Clause by Lorna Barett
Why I chose this:
I found this cozy bookstore mystery at a Little Free Library and had to take it home! I have never read one of these but I feel like it’s a fall essential! If you don’t know what a cozy mystery is, let me enlighten you with my minimal knowledge; they usually involve a picturesque town, a murder, and a Hallmark-like character trying to solve it.
A Certain Hunger by Chelsea G. Summers
Why I chose this:
Without giving too much away, this book is about a female serial killer that indulges in cannibalism by eating men (Yass girl). I don’t know about you, but this sounds like a perfect book for October.
Happy reading!
I hope you all enjoy my selections and will hopefully write back here soon! Make sure to check out my blog, TheLeslieLife, and follow me on Instagram!
